Warner Bros has acquired the rights to the Cannonball Run franchise and in 2016 set Etan Cohen to write and direct a remake, titled Cannonball. Andre Morgan and Alan Gasmer are producing.[27]
On June 4, 2018, it was announced that Doug Liman was in early talks to direct the film from a script by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant.[28]
